The Hobart City deal is stuck in the slow lane because of the Morrison Government’s incompetence.

Today marks one year since the signing of the Hobart City Deal and there’s been little or no progress.

Plans to activate the Northern Suburbs Transit Corridor have stalled, while the establishment of a River Derwent passenger ferry service is still awaiting a business case.

We know that Scott Morrison has never taken the Hobart City Deal seriously - he made it clear during the Federal Election campaign that the Liberals put politics before what’s best for Tasmania.

Shadow Minister for Urban Infrastructure and Cities, Andrew Giles said Hobart deserves better than a second class city deal, but that’s what you get from an ad man without a plan.

“The Hobart City Deal is all spin and no substance.

“We have no clear indication of when construction will begin on the Bridgewater Bridge.

“We have no idea of when international flights will commence at Hobart Airport.

“We have no idea of what will be done to address Hobart’s worsening traffic congestion.”

Tasmanian Senator, Carol Brown said when it comes to the Hobart City Deal all we have seen is cost blowouts and delays and more money thrown at consultants.

“Tasmanians deserve better than more vague promises. They want to see results.” Senator Brown said.

Labor has been engaging with local governments and local businesses about the progress of the City Deal and is determined to see Hobart given the support it needs to thrive.

The Morrison Government has no plan to get on with the Hobart City Deal and no plan to tackle traffic congestion in Hobart.
