The Morrison-Joyce Government has yet again left multicultural communities behind in the vaccine rollout.

This morning the ABC reported that official public health information provided for CALD communities is almost two months out of date.

The Department of Health’s vaccination information still states that AstraZeneca is the preferred vaccine for Australians over 50, despite the medical advice changing in June, and again in 27 July.

The Arabic translation doesn't mention that all adults in Greater Sydney should get the vaccine amid the NSW COVID outbreak, including the AstraZeneca vaccine, in accordance with the ATAGI advice of 24 July.

Everyone deserves to be safe, and to be provided with timely, accessible and accurate public health information.

This shouldn’t still be happening. They shouldn’t be treating health translations a as tick and flick exercise.

Last year, the Government provided incoherent translations to CALD communities after relying on Google translate to provide critical health messaging.

Federal Labor has been pleading with the Morrison government to recognise this, and the strengths and understandings in multicultural communities for more than a year.

The Morrison-Joyce Government has shown it is incapable of learning from the pandemic or listening to multicultural communities.

This is just another example of Mr Morrison’s failure to step up and do his job.
