Just before the last election, Scott Morrison announced a city deal for South East Queensland.

With another election on the horizon, he's finally gotten around to actually signing it.

How many more elections will it take for him to actually deliver anything?

Even with today's announcement, the inexplicable exclusion of the Gold Coast from the City Deal, despite being home to more than 600,000 South East Queenslanders and playing an important role in the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics, clearly shows the Morrison-Joyce Government isn’t interested in ensuring the future success of the whole of the SEQ region.

Scott Morrison is a repeat offender when it comes to delayed or undelivered city deals. More than 1,000 days after being promised two city deals, the people of Melbourne still have nothing to show for it.

Only Labor is committed to real city partnerships, not just announcements.

In Government, we will focus on the hard work of delivering the projects Australians need, not on empty announcements and newspaper front pages.
